Cards. Cards and More Cards!!

Two new products have just arrived at Hobbies and Heroes. Topps American Heritage: American Heroes, and 2009 Topps Threads Football.

Topps American Heritage: American Heroes is a new and very unique set making it's debut to the hobby this year. Celebrating Heroism of American culture and American history. Each box contains a combination of two cut signature, autograph, patch, stamp, or relic cards per box. Very rare cut autograph's of such legendary figures as Ty Cobb and Abraham Lincoln, among others, are being inserted into boxes. There are dual signature book cards, and quad signature book cards which feature cut autographs of prominent historical figures. Other autographs in this set include heroes of space flight, which include 25 space pioneers, such as Sally Ride and Neil Armstrong. Heroes of Sport and American Heroes honoring 25 distinguished heroes including WWII Hero Jimmy Stewart. There are some really cool relics in this set, such as dual relics of baseball greats Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig and others. Authentic pieces from Apollo 11, 15, Space Shuttle Columbia, Discovery, Endeavor, and others. These boxes probably won't be in stock for long, so please contact us if you're interested in a box or packs.

2009 Topps Threads Football is now available at Hobbies and Heroes. Since it's arrival on store shelves, just a few years ago, Topps Threads Football has become one of the most popular and anticipated Football sets of each year. Each box contains 4 autographs or memorabilia cards. 4 hobby rookies, and other great inserts such as Silver Century Proofs as well as College Greats. Just to name a few. The always popular autograph rookie class letter patches are back this year. This truly great insert set features the top incoming stars of the 2009 Rookie Class, with each letter of the rookie’s last name within a custom nameplate and signed by the respective future NFL star, numbered to 399 or less. Not too much more needs to be said, as this product basically sells itself.

Big Changes In Store For Baseball and Basketball Cards?

Another exclusive deal has been signed. First it was Panini (which bought out Donruss) signing an exclusive deal with the NBA to produce Basketball cards. Topps has added it's name to the list of exclusives with their new Multiyear deal with the MLB. Topps has signed a new deal with, Major League Baseball, which makes them the exclusive trading card company of the MLB starting in 2010.

The MLB believes there is a greater chance of organizing the marketplace with a singular partner, such as Topps. Upper Deck still has a contract with the Players Association, which give them the rights to players likenesses, but they don't have the right to team logos or trademarks. Baseball cards will most likely still be produced by Upper Deck, but all identifiable marks of a players team name or logo will have to be removed from view. Donruss may continue to make baseball rookie card products, as they did in 2008, which were a big hit with baseball card collectors. Such products as Playoff Contenders baseball and Donruss Elite Extra Edition, which offered true first year Rookie cards of newly drafted players and prospects who didn't have cards in any other sets. I guess we will see, if exclusive deals such as these, are a good thing or not for the hobby in the long run.

I wanted to let everyone know that we recently received the new McFarlane College Football series 1. This is the first time that McFarlane has released NFL players in their collegiate uniforms. It's been a long time coming, but the wait is finally over. It's a set of six players which includes: Hines Ward (Georgia), Peyton Manning (Tennessee), JaMarcus Russell (LSU), Tom Brady (Michigan), Adrian Peterson (Oklahoma), and Ray Lewis (Miami). We still have most of the players in the set in stock, so check with us if you're interested.

This Friday we will be receiving the new 2009-10 Bowman '48 Basketball. This promises to be a great set, honoring the 1948 Bowman set design. Being the first major Basketball set produced, and the only Basketball set made by Bowman. Each box contains 24 packs, with eight cards per pack. Look for three autograph cards per box, and one numbered card per pack. Also look for autograph relic cards.

There is a lot of new 2009 Football products, which should be arriving at Hobbies and Heroes, before the end of August. I'll be sure to post an update when we have them in stock.

More and More 2009 Football

I just wanted to give a quick update on newly released products that are available now at Hobbies and Heroes!! We just received the 2009 Leaf Rookies and Stars Football and 2009 Topps Chrome Baseball. The '09 Leaf Rookies & Stars Football is always a great product, offering four memorabilia or autograph cards, in each 24 pack box. We also just got in the 2009 Topps Chrome baseball. Topps Chrome is a great source of rookie cards and veteran stars, and is one of the most popular products released each year. There are two autographs per box, with the majority of the auto's being on card, not a sticker. Which is always a big plus.

Last week we received the 2009 Topps Football boxes. We still have regular, and Jumbo boxes available. Also in stock is Upper Deck Philadelphia Football, offering two jersey cards, and one on card autograph per box. Please feel free to give us a call at (956)-668-9700, about these, or any other sports card related products, comic books, and McFarlane figures.
